    The representative wanted to talk about the benefits of using a particular seizure medication. In our Healthcare and Pharmacy Behavior course, this method is known as the traditional method of marketing to providers. Pharmaceutical companies use marketing strategies to healthcare providers to promote their medications, which influences how medications are prescribed to patients. The drug representative then brought up the possibility of giving customers a coupon for the drug. This coupon would allow customers to receive a one-month supply of medication. My pharmacist had some concerns about using coupons. One concern was what would happen to customers when they could not afford to refill their medication. In healthcare and pharmacy behavior, one of the determining factors when a customer is prescribed a medication is price. Another concern was that the coupon redemption process was inconvenient for the pharmacy itself. Ultimately, my pharmacist did not believe there was any benefit to customers or the pharmacy in using the coupons.
