    Structured conflict is a type of positive conflict that can lead to much better group cohesion and decision making. Two types of conflicts can arise in a group decision process. These are type C conflicts or cognitive conflicts and type A conflicts, emotional conflicts (McWilliams & Williams 2014). Type C conflict is disagreeing with the interpretations or opinions of others. Members of the group where Type C conflict occurs will not agree with the opinions of other members, based on their previous experiences and expertise. Type C conflict can also be explained as the desire to analyze and compare their differences in order to produce the best possible solution. A Type A conflict is a disagreement that focuses on the person or personal issues rather than the idea being presented. A disagreement can become personal and hurtful rather than professional. “Type A conflicts often result in hostility, anger, resentment, distrust, cynicism, and apathy” (McWilliams & Williams 2014, p. 86).
